ABOUT THIS PROJECT:

In designing Oakland Elementary School, the primary focus was to implement sustainable elements throughout the building. The project installed energy efficient lighting and eco-friendly materials throughout the school. Terrazzo flooring was one of the eco-friendly materials used for this project. Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo used an ocean-inspired theme to design the terrazzo floors. Sailboats, sea creatures and the deep blue sea are some of the imagery created using different epoxy colors and aggregates that make up this colorful floor. Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo used low emitting materials such as mother of pearl, blue grass, and cardiff green marble chips as aggregates in the terrazzo design mix. With a space filled with kid-friendly design, students will embrace the terrazzo floors each year they attend Oakland Elementary School.
