Position Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for developing the construction plan, organizing the delivery of all project components, coordinating subcontractors, and executing the contract with the client. Our Project Manager is creative, driven, and dedicated to our clients and partners, ensuring that projects are delivered promptly and cost-effectively.

The Project Manager collaborates with the President/CEO with latitude to make daily business decisions within established parameters.

Supervision Exercised:

This position provides direct oversight of the following positions (regardless of level):

  • Assistant Project Managers
  • Superintendents
  • Foreman

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, improve, maintain, and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for each position/function within the department.
  • Planned, coordinated, and oversaw all aspects of terrazzo installation projects from start to finish.
  • Prepare contracts or negotiate revisions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, or subcontractors.
  • Implement new or modified plans in response to delays or construction site emergencies.
  • Performs or contracts others to perform prebuilding assessments, such as conceptual cost estimating, feasibility, etc.
  • Create and maintain project schedules and timelines.
  • Ensure that material purchase orders are accurate and submitted on time to meet the project schedules.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure that project objectives are completed.
  • Manage a team of Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, and field employees, supervising their work and providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Ensure that all work is completed to the highest possible quality standards, by industry best practices and safety regulations.
  • Conduct site inspections to identify and address issues or challenges as applicable.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and project documentation, including change orders, purchase orders, and daily progress reports.
  • Ensure bi-monthly/monthly invoicing is completed.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Ensure the DAILY project workbook in Builder Trend with notes and pictures is completed promptly.
  • Perform other work-related duties as needed.
  • The effectiveness in safeguarding information in reports, written materials, or other confidential material/information/conversations.
  • Follows applicable safety, health, and environmental rules and guidelines. Uses appropriate protective equipment.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, & Skills):

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) from an accredited four-year College or University in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in construction project management.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, organizing, and overseeing complex projects from start to finish.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, building and maintaining solid relationships with clients, architects, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to read and interpret project specifications and plans.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools like Builder Trend, Microsoft Teams, etc.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify and address potential issues or challenges in a timely and effective manner.
  • Travel as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, reliable vehicle, & and proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage.

Physical / Mental Demands:

This position requires handling stress, especially when dealing with employee and customer issues. Manages detailed, complex concepts and problems, balances multiple tasks simultaneously, meets required deadlines, and must be able to make rapid decisions.

You are sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching, bending, fingering, seeing, speaking, and hearing. You must be able to distinguish between colors. Sitting while driving between job sites may also require frequent standing and walking at each job location.

Working Conditions/Environment:

Work is typically performed in an office but occasionally in the warehouse. The warehouse is not heated or cooled. Will require overnight travel and stay to visit job sites as needed. Requires ability and willingness to work long hours and have flexibility toward work schedule (including occasional weekend hours) to meet the demands of a management position.

Job description

Position Summary:

The Installer is responsible for preparing and installing terrazzo flooring. 

The person hired must be aligned with our company’s CORE VALUES.

Supervision Received:

The Installer works under the supervision of the Superintendent. 

Key Performance Indicators to Measure Performance: 

  • Displays an assertive professional work behavior internally and externally that aligns with “I Am H.A.R.P.” Honest. Accountable. Respectful. Profitable  
  • Measure designated amounts of ingredients for terrazzo or grout according to formulas and specifications using graduated containers and scales, and load ingredients into a portable mixer. 
  • Grind surfaces with a power grinder or polish with polishing or surfacing machines.
  • Cut metal division strips and press them into the terrazzo base for joints or changes of color to form designs or patterns or to help prevent cracks.
  • Blend marble chip mixtures, place them into panels, and push a roller over the surface to embed the chips.
  • Modify mixing, grouting, grinding, stripping, or cleaning procedures according to the type of installation or material used. 
  • Spread, level, or smooth concrete or terrazzo mixtures to form bases or finished surfaces using rakes, shovels, hand or power trowels, hand or power screeds, or floats.
  • Use a portable hand grinder to grind curved surfaces or areas inaccessible to surfacing machines, such as stairways. Wash the polished terrazzo surface using cleaner and water, and apply sealer and curing agent according to the manufacturer’s specifications using a brush or sprayer. 
  • Position and secure the moisture membrane and wire mesh in preparation for pouring base materials for terrazzo installation. 
  • Fill slight grinding depressions with matching grout material and hand-trowel for a smooth, uniform surface. 
  • Clean installation site, mixing and storage areas, tools, machines, equipment, and store materials and equipment. Sprinkle colored marble or stone chips, powdered steel, or colorant over the surface to achieve the prescribed finish. 
  • Wet the surface to prepare for bonding, fill holes and cracks with grout or slurry, and smooth with a trowel. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mix cement, sand, and water to produce concrete, grout, or slurry using a hoe, trowel, tamper, scraper, or concrete mixing machine.
  • Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, or straightedges.
  • Move terrazzo installation materials, tools, machines, or work devices to work areas manually or using a wheelbarrow. Clean the chipped area with a wire brush, then inspect the surface to determine whether it is rough or uneven.
  • Repair concrete using a power saw and drill by cutting out damaged areas, drilling holes for reinforcing rods, and positioning reinforcing rods.
  • Install precast terrazzo tread, risers, cove, or straight base.
  • Wet the concrete surface, then rub it with a stone to smooth it and achieve the specified finish.
  • Follows applicable safety, health, and environmental rules and guidelines. Uses appropriate protective equipment.
  • Perform other work-related duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, & Skills):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of prior experience with terrazzo installation and grinding equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to read and follow plans/drawings.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and building techniques
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Safety-conscious and able to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Ability to travel to job sites and work flexible hours as required.
