ABOUT THIS PROJECT:
The Seminole State College Student Union opened in January 2018 forming a one-stop location for students to socialize, dine, study and shop. This high-tech environment includes 12,565 square feet of epoxy terrazzo installed by Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo.
At the main entrance, students are greeted by a gorgeous terrazzo floor decorated with the school’s colors. From there students can walk up a tread and riser staircase to the second floor or walk past a wavy white terrazzo countertop, all manufactured by the Precast Division at Concord Terrazzo Company. At one end of the building, students can enjoy the new dining area, also designed with an slip resistant and easy to clean epoxy terrazzo floor.
For the terrazzo design, the architects choose an opaque white marble along with recycled blue glass and Mother of Pearl aggregate chips. These blend of aggregates help to bring out the school’s color, which can excite students and elevate school identity.
