ABOUT THIS PROJECT:
New classrooms and department offices received lustrous and seamless terrazzo flooring at the School of Education and Psychology Building at Elizabeth City State University. The facility serves as a center for student and community learning. Today the School of Education and Psychology Building is a model for sustainable buildings, using methods to conserve both energy and water usage. Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo placed a moisture mitigation and anti-crack membrane. Some projects are fast-tracked which leaves less time for concrete slabs to dry. As a result it slab moisture levels can make it unsuitable for installing a floor. Ask a Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo professional about our moisture mitigation systems. The terrazzo floors consist of both natural white stones and mother of pearl seashells as well as recycled plate glass for aggregates in the mix design. Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo installed precast terrazzo stairs surrounded by glass barricades, creating a modern style.
