The Design of Daytona State College Student Center

Daytona State College Student Center, built by Perry McCall Construction and designed by Ikon 5 Architects is a four-story building with a combination of classroom, offices, conference rooms, and food service spaces. The design of the student center focuses on the use of regional materials and sustainable features.  The building opened in December 2018.

Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo helped aid in delivering a terrazzo floor that incorporated the design goals of using regionally sourced materials and met sustainable standards. Terrazzo installers added 19,305 square feet of epoxy terrazzo on multiple levels of the building. A staircase comprised of precast terrazzo treads and risers and landing connect each building story.

The terrazzo floor, in 200 grit, is a one-color design that used regional and recycled materials supplied by TERRAZZCO Brand Products. The aggregate choice for the terrazzo design included Classic Mother of Pearl shells, white marble, and clear glass.

Terrazzo is ideal for higher education facilities that help to combat heavy foot traffic while showcasing a clean and elegant floor design.
