ABOUT THIS PROJECT:
Warren County Middle School is a new school in Front Royal, Virginia with a traditionally styled building. The architects choose high-performing sustainable materials like terrazzo as part of the school’s design. Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo installed 9,763 square feet of epoxy terrazzo at this location.
The terrazzo circles around the career center. Diamond-shaped designs are placed at the north, south, east, and west points of the room with curved patterns in each quadrant. The project also includes a terrazzo staircase leading to the second story of the building. The floor design uses four distinct colors, with each mix using up to 15% silver coated glass. Terrazzo is chosen in schools for its longevity and durability, and is beneficial in areas such as lobbies and hallways for its ease to maintain and clean.
