ABOUT THIS PROJECT:

In defining what it means to be a school of the future, Pelion High School incorporates sustainable features in its expansion. The school’s expansion included new classrooms and research spaces for students to thrive in. The learning experience is more than just blackboards and textbooks. Today architects work with schools to ensure the learning experience is engaging and fun at the same time. For this project, Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo installed terrazzo throughout the school’s hallways and lobby areas. When walking through the front entrance, students and staff get a glimpse of a flower design created with epoxy terrazzo and zinc divider strips. A ribbon-like terrazzo design flows seamlessly through the hallway, guiding students to their respective classes. For this project, Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo used five epoxy resin colors with a combination of Persian cream, green marble chips and marble dust in the school’s floor design. Pelion High School is truly an innovative approach to school design.
