ABOUT THIS PROJECT:
The construction of this state-of-the-art medical center is absolutely stunning. With projections indicating a need to serve an ever growing population in North Jacksonville, it was essential to include a durable floor at UF Health North. Terrazzo is not only beautiful in design but provides sustainable features that architects seek like recycled content and low emitting gasses that all contribute to LEED points. Also with terrazzo’s durability, the floor is promising in regards to reducing upkeep in the following years. For this project, Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo installed 11,448 square feet of epoxy terrazzo and 1,105 linear feet of precast straight base for this project. Using a 200 grit polish level, Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo used off-white terrazzo floors with recycled green glass, one-sided mirror and mother of pearl for the terrazzo design, which really gives the medical center an aesthetic beauty at a cost-effective price that most other flooring options cannot match. As a result, UF Health North in a leading example in sustainable design for the healthcare industry.
