Terrazzo floors last through the life cycle of any building, making them an ideal floor for the MUSC Wellness Center. Today the MUSC Wellness Center is a warm and inviting space for patients, visitors and staff members. For this hospital project, 3/8″ epoxy terrazzo was poured into place with zinc divider strips to compose the design of the floor. Tan and gray epoxy resins were combined with cameo cream and raven black marble chips to create the mix design. Terrazzo is the original sustainable flooring dating back to the mid-16th century. Today terrazzo can contribute to achieving LEED status with its recycled content and innovative design. With low VOC content, terrazzo is a worthy flooring substitution to floor that emit harmful toxins.
