ABOUT THE TERRAZZO FLOORS AT ORLANDO MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:
In order to coincide with today’s modern airport design, the Orlando Melbourne International Airport relied on Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo to supplant the existing carpet with brand new epoxy terrazzo floors.
For this project, Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo installed 7,500 square feet of epoxy terrazzo for the airport’s terminal. The epoxy terrazzo floors use three colors – white, dark grey, and teal to create a design that flows across the terminal. This airport project meets LEED® standards, utilizing 100 percent recycled one-sided mirror glass.
Terrazzo has become a favorite material among airports for its wayfinding techniques. Travelers can now arrive at their destination and see the beauty that a terrazzo floor brings, often showcasing a city’s story through graphics. Even strolling luggage across these floors make it much easier for travelers to get from one point to another due to the seamless finish that an epoxy terrazzo floor produces. Travelers will see the difference that terrazzo makes in the years to come, making their experience more welcoming and with ease.
