ABOUT THE TERRAZZO FLOORS AT LOUIS ARMSTRONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:
Replacing an older facility, Louis Armstrong International Airport went through a $1 billion reconstruction to accommodate a growing airport and improve the passenger experience. Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo was tasked to install 288,500 square feet of epoxy terrazzo for the North Terminal at the Louis Armstrong International Airport. Completed in 2019, the terrazzo helps support the ongoing travel by providing a durable flooring solution that is easy to clean and maintain. For the overall experience, the goal was to create an airport that reflected much of New Orleans, hosting a space that showcases the area’s history, culture and entertainment.
Epoxy terrazzo flows seamlessly throughout the airport from the terminal to the baggage claim. Single-side mirror glass was included in the terrazzo floor design which adds a reflective effect when travelers move throughout the building. Meeting the demands of constant flow of foot traffic, terrazzo has become a staple for today’s airport designs.
