ABOUT THE TERRAZZO FLOORS AT CHARLOTTE DOUGLAS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT PHASE I:
Charlotte Douglas International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. Upgrades were made in 2018 to address the projected increase of traffic. Charlotte Douglas International Airport Phase I added epoxy terrazzo floors to their concourses, terminals, and baggage claims. Phase one of Concourse A was underway that added digital artwork to improve the traveler experience. The concourse also provides retail shops and amenities to add to the experience as well.
Over the course of a year, Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo installed terrazzo for the new areas of the airport. The entire project covered 58,055 square feet of epoxy terrazzo using a four-color design in the shape of piano keys. This design is repeated throughout the area, and provides the airport with a modern appearance. Elsewhere, Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo installed white terrazzo floors in East Terminal. Terrazzo was also installed in the airport’s restrooms. Together the terrazzo floors provide a long-lasting, easy-to-maintain flooring surface that meets the needs of the airport to accommodate the demands of a growing facility.
