ABOUT THIS PROJECT:

With the shift in green building, the University of Virginia exemplifies the movement as its Hospital Bed expansion maximizes sustainable elements. Among these elements was the terrazzo flooring installed by Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo. A off-white epoxy resin was chosen for the design that also includes recycled and natural aggregates. The white terrazzo floors flow seamlessly in the open space. One of the highlights of this project is the precast terrazzo stairs that extends from the ground level to the third floor. The ground level features a precast terrazzo base. The staircase is supported by steel and glass railings. The facility is destined to attract new students and create a more dynamic and engaging campus.
