ABOUT THIS PROJECT:

“Transformation is in our DNA” – High Point University

This motto is symbolic of a student’s journey during their time at High Point University as they progress from student to healthcare professional. The grand lobby features a DNA configuration to represent this transformation. Part of this transformation included the addition of new terrazzo flooring and stairwell at HPU’s Congdon School of Health Sciences, which houses classrooms, lecture halls, dining spaces and different laboratories.

Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo installed 18,280 square feet of epoxy terrazzo throughout the interior of the building. A total of six different epoxy resin colors were chosen for the terrazzo design, primarily neutral in color. Also present is the precast terrazzo staircase with a stair landing halfway from the transition from the ground level to the second level floor.

The HPU School of Health Sciences project meets sustainable goals by use of green materials. The entire terrazzo design features a mix of traditional marble chips with various post-consumer glass chips, including mirror glass that reflects off the floor by light. Overall the terrazzo is a worthy investment that will help create a clean and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere as students being their transformation into future healthcare professionals.
