ABOUT THIS PROJECT:

Kids will love the colorful terrazzo floors at T. Harry Garrett Elementary School. Doyle Dickerson installed six epoxy terrazzo colors throughout the building. Each hallway is separated by a a specific color. The terrazzo floor consists of recycled blue and red glass, Persian cream and white natural stones for aggregates. A moisture mitigation system was added with the terrazzo floor to reduce vapors from spreading through the floor, which can diminish the air quality. By electing to choose terrazzo floors, T. Harry Garrett Elementary School has a durable and easy to maintain floor for the foreseeable future. Green schools use 33% less energy than non-sustainable schools. In fact, green schools have shown an increase in overall student performance, lower absenteeism and teacher turnover.
