ABOUT THIS PROJECT:

At the Piedmont Newnan Hospital, the architects designed a facility that uses sustainable materials to reduce future operating costs, reduce environmental waste and provide a healthier atmosphere for both patients and hospital employees. Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo installed a beautiful off-white terrazzo floor, which uses blue gray and white marble chips in the design. In one section of the building, 1,804 square feet of precast stairs were added. At a wide length, the precast terrazzo stairs provide safe footing for patients and staff members as they travel from the ground floor to the second floor and vice-versa. To truly impact the overall health of a building and the well-being of its patients and staff, architects must consider using safer chemicals and building materials. Terrazzo is an ideal material for healthcare facilities around the world. Not only does it have an environmental impact by using recycled aggregates but its low levels of emitting gasses is beneficial for hospitals compared to other flooring options available.
