ABOUT THIS PROJECT:

The Duke University School of Nursing is a dynamic facility that added more classrooms to its original building in 2014. The project was awarded with LEED Certified Silver, now providing medical students with a central location where they can learn and engage in a close-knit community on campus. Terrazzo contractor Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo installed 1,089 square feet of epoxy terrazzo flooring in the department. The highlight of the terrazzo flooring is the logo design. The Duke University School of Nursing logo encompasses the Gothic architecture that is symbolic on the university’s campus. Using a 100 grit level polish, 1/8″ to 1/2″ zinc divider strips, and largely dark green aggregates in the mix design, Doyle Dickerson Terrazzo was able to bring this terrazzo floor to life. Terrazzo floors contain zero VOC content, making the educational environment a healthier place in which students can learn.
